What to do if you have been in an accident

Immediately After the Accident:

  1. Stay calm and try to move the vehicle to a safe location out of the way of traffic if possible.
  2. Check for injuries and seek emergency medical attention if necessary.
  3. Call the police (911) to report the accident.

Collect Driver & Insurance Information

Make sure you write down and/or take a photo to secure the following information for the other driver(s) involved.

1. Driver(s) Information:

  • Driver(s) license number,
  • Driver(s) license state
  • Date of birth
  • Contact Information such as: address & phone number

2. Drivers Insurance Information:

  • Insurance company name
  • Insurance company phone number
  • Policy number
  • Policyholder's name

3. Passenger & Witness Information:

  • Passenger/Witness name
  • Contact Information such as: address & phone number

4. Vehicle Information:

  • Vehicle make, model, & color
  • Vehicle license plate
  • Make sure you take photos of your vehicle's damage as well as any other drivers vehicle's damage involved in the accident.

5. Other Information:

  • Location, date, and time of the accident
  • Name of police department and police report number (if applicable)
