The rules are not the same everywhere.

Motorcycles follow the same state liability minimums as cars, and those minimums change when you cross a state line. These are the three states where we have offices.

THE THINGS PEOPLE ACTUALLY ASK US

In Texas, California and Arizona, yes. The same liability minimums that apply to cars apply to motorcycles. We can set up the minimum or build out full coverage, your call.

No. A motorcycle needs its own policy. The good news: adding one alongside your auto policy is often less than you expect.

Stock parts are covered under a standard policy. Aftermarket parts, bags, and upgrades need custom parts and equipment coverage. Tell us what you have added and we will include it.

Often, yes. Many insurance companies offer storage options for the months the bike is parked. Canceling the policy entirely creates a gap in insurance that can raise your rate later, so ask us before you drop coverage.

It depends on the policy. Guest passenger liability is available, so tell us if you ride two-up and we will make sure it is included.

Most riders are covered the same day. Quote online, call, or walk into an office.

Much like car insurance, with a few differences. Liability is written as three numbers: injuries per person, injuries per accident, and property damage. Your state sets the minimum, and you can choose more. Collision and comprehensive each have a deductible, the amount you pay before the policy pays. Ask how the bike is valued after a total loss, because market value and an agreed value can be very different on a custom or classic bike.

Your driver license and motorcycle endorsement if you have one, the bike's year, make, model and VIN, where it is parked overnight, and any tickets or accidents in the last few years. If you have a current policy, bring it so we can compare like for like. Start online, call 1-800-921-AMAX, or visit an A-MAX office.

What you pay depends mostly on the bike, your riding record, where you live and park, and the coverage you choose. On an older bike you own outright, liability only may be enough. Pick a deductible you could actually pay. Ask whether a rider safety course counts with the options available to you. Keep your insurance continuous, since a gap in insurance can raise what you pay later. We shop. You choose.
